OPTIMIST FUN

We had a wonderful afternoon at Pandora Pond. We learnt so much ....
  • How to rig and work all the parts of an optimist yacht.
  • How to launch an optimist yacht.
  • How to sail into the wind, with the wind.
  • How to communicate with a partner.
  • How to race your optimist in a challenge.
We had a great time. Here are some photos of our Optimist Adventure!

Reading with our Buddy Class

Reading with our buddy class

Today we had a lovely time working alongside our buddies from Room 18. Room 2 students acted as awesome teachers, encouraging and supporting younger students as they read to them. Room 2 students discussed the text and helped students to work through word problems as they occurred. It was lovely to see the nurturing side of so many students. Well done Room 2!

Electricity in the World Around Us

Electricity in the World Around Us

We have started our new inquiry - Electricity in the World Around Us. To get us thinking we have taken part in a range of hands on activities in the classroom, visited the Faraday Centre and had a visit from Unison Energy.

Here is a photo slideshow to show us in action.

NATIONAL YOUNG LEADERS DAY

Leaders are often made, not simply born. NYLD is dedicated to sparking the leadership potential that’s inside every young person through practical, inspirational events and leadership resources.
National Young Leaders Days are the largest and longest running leadership event for primary, intermediate and secondary school students. These large scale annual events aim to develop student leadership. Since 2001, more than 110,000 students have been empowered to fulfill their dreams and become great leaders at a National Young Leaders Day in New Zealand. NYLD events are also held in Australia and Singapore.
The key focus for this year's NYLD was ....Attitude for Gratitude. Students heard from some wonderful speakers. Here are a few photos from the day.
